Think about an incident from your past, something you did (or didn’t do) that still haunts you.
When you look back on that, is it possible you were doing the best you could at the time, with what you had to work with?
By not forgiving yourself, every time you remember this you are chipping away at your self-esteem and self-worth.
By being open to extending yourself forgiveness you free yourself of guilt and shame. You allow yourself to start feeling good about who you are.
Nobody’s perfect and we all make mistakes. Offer yourself the forgiveness you would freely give someone else.
